The Manitoba Museum is open every day of Winter Break except December 25.
Winnipeg, MB (December 21, 2017): The Manitoba Museum will be open every day between Saturday, December 23, 2017 and Sunday, January 7, 2018 except for December 25 (see detailed hours below). Go below deck for a rare opportunity to see the mysterious cargo hold of the Nonsuch. Don’t miss the boat – make sure you see the beloved replica of the 17th-century ship that launched the Hudson’s Bay Company before the Nonsuch Gallery closes for renewal.
While you’re here, you can “picture yourself” in a national park winter wonderland with Parks Canada’s Green Screen Photo Booth, where you choose the Manitoba setting for your free digital postcard.
Holiday fun continues with 360-degree full-dome projections of our holiday Planetarium shows. Join jolly ol’ Santa and a concerned alien, Mr. Freep, in The Alien Who Stole Christmas. Light up the cold dark winter with Season of Light, featuring astronomy and holiday traditions. Take a guided tour of the night sky as seen from Manitoba by watching Live with the Stars (see show times below).
Check out the Science Gallery to test the universal laws of science and explore the wonders of technology and illusion. Where else can you learn about microscopes, see a real, full-sized rocket, and explore ways to save Lake Winnipeg? You’ll want to feel the rush as you climb into the driver’s seat of a real race car from Red River Co-op Speedway. You can also build and test your own slot car at the four-lane Engineered for Speed race track, or play with mini-cars on the gravity track.
Winter Break is your last chance to see Legacies of Confederation: A New Look At Manitoba History. Wrap up Canada 150 by having a look at iconic artifacts and specimens that tell the story of the effects of Confederation on the people of the Red River and the land that would become Manitoba.
So you can enjoy the Manitoba Museum all year, buy a Manitoba Museum Membership for exclusive benefits and unlimited FREE admission to the Museum Galleries, Planetarium & Science Gallery. Get yours before January 7 and save 15%.
